DISPATCHER POSITION


The McKenzie County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Dispatcher.

Starting hourly wage is $24.46 to $26.48 depending on experience.  McKenzie County offers an excellent benefit package including:

Job Description:
 
Dispatcher under general supervision is responsible for receiving and disseminating emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatching to appropriate responding personnel. General administrative work as well as data entry.

Essential Duties include but are not limited to:


  • Receive incoming telephone calls for Law Enforcement from all areas within McKenzie County
  • Route Calls to the proper authority
  • Track units and maintain cognizant knowledge of all field units as to their status and location throughout the assigned shift
  • Monitor, receive, and broadcast calls on multiple radio frequencies and dispatch required units according to established procedures 
  • Relay information and messages to field personnel as required 
 
Job Requirements: 
 
  • Be of excellent moral character
  • Obtained a High School Diploma or GED
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to communicate verbally in a distinct, clear, concise and pleasant manner in a variety of circumstances
  • Excellent organizational skills and customer service
  • Ability to follow written and verbal requests
  • No Misdemeanor convictions in the last three years
  • No domestic violence convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • No drug use in the last 12 months (including marijuana)
  • Eligible to receive ND CJIS and NCIC certification upon employement

 
Experience:
 
  • No prior dispatch experience is required

  • Prior administrative experience
